MORENO VALLEY >> A week after being named to the 2016 Double-A Texas League All-Star team, Trevor Oaks learned he had been promoted to the Los Angeles Dodgers' Triple-A team (Oklahoma City Dodgers). The 2014 California Baptist University ace joins rare company, as Aaron Hartsock is the first and only other Lancer to reach the Triple-A level. Hartsock did so with the Omaha Royals, an affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, in 2009. Oaks, a right-handed starting pitcher, makes the move coming off a four-game streak with the Double-A Tulsa Drillers where he lasted at least through the sixth inning, and had not allowed more than one run in the process of each outing. Overall, Oaks has logged an 8-1 record and 2.14 earned-run average in Tulsa, where he has pitched alongside fellow-former Lancer and best friend Caleb Dirks. In 10 starts, Oaks has logged 63 innings a 1.03 WHIP, .239 opposing batting average and 38 strikeouts to just nine walks. Most recently, Oaks threw seven innings of four-hit, one-run ball. He allowed just one walk and struck out three in a no decision against the Arkansas Travelers. Dirks, who is ranked a top-30 prospect on the Dodgers' Prospect Watch, has been dynamite for the Drillers, as well. In 26 appearances out of the bullpen and 29.1 innings, the right-handed reliever has a 2-2 record, 1.53 ERA and 1.02 WHIP. Dirks has more than a strikeout an inning, with 32 in all, and just six walks, along with a .216 opposing batting average.
