Because Lake Perris' rightful home is Moreno Valley geographically and theoretically speaking, it's time for MoVallians to stand up and demand that our city's landmark be reflected as our own.
Due to the current misnaming of the Lake, Moreno Valley missed the opportunity to host the 2028 World Olympic Games; scheduled in Los Angeles after the Olympic Committee decided that Lake Perris was not what they were looking for. Now, Moreno Valley Lake will more accurately reflect the community that best identifies its location, which will best represent the lake to the general public and foreign committees who seek to use our city for world-wide events.
Should this petition gain enough support, the World Olympic Committee will be requested to reconsider using the Lake under its new moniker before 2028. Moreno Valley has been one of the fastest growing cities in California's modern history and has become the 21st biggest city in the state, in under half a century of incorporation.
Given Moreno Valley's higher prestige, bigger size, and popularity; renaming the Lake would provide Moreno Valley residents with greater economical benefits and overall increase in value of the city (including property).
