Homicide in Reche Canyon

On Monday, November 25, 2019, officers from the California Highway Patrol responded to the 7800 block of Reche Canyon Road to investigate a report of a traffic collision. During their investigation, they learned the collision was likely intentional and the victim, later identified as, Joseph Laverty, a 60-year-old male from Moreno Valley, had died from his injuries. Investigators from the Central Homicide Unit were notified and assumed the investigation. On Tuesday November 26, 2019, Brian Davidson, a 57-year-old male from Moreno Valley, was arrested for murder due to his involvement in Laverty’s death.
