GRAND TERRACE >> Healthy GT is collaborating with the city of Grand Terrace at this year’s Grand Terrace Community Day to promote the idea of safety and disaster preparedness within the community. Healthy GT is a initiative sponsored by the Foundation of Grand Terrace to encourage a healthy and sustainable lifestyle for residents through programs, policies, infrastructure, and events like Community Day. More than 1,500 people throughout the community gather every year at this event prepared by the Community Events Committee of the Foundation of Grand Terrace. This year, it will be held Saturday, June 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its regular location, Richard Rollins Community Park. Local service organizations, Colton Joint Unified School District (CJUSD), safe communities and businesses will work together with the city to promote the theme of “Safety & Disaster Preparedness: Ready, Set, Safe!” in support of Healthier GT. Sponsors are encouraged to take part, as contributions not only help bring this premier community event to life through supporting the KidZone activities, the stage and entertainment, but also help bring exposure to local businesses and organizations around Grand Terrace. The Foundation of Grand Terrace is operated through the Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and volunteers and local contributions both help to bring the event to the community every year. If interested in becoming a sponsor, contact the Grand Terrace Chamber office at 909-783-3581 or visit gtchamber.com. Based on the sponsorship level, businesses can receive different marketing opportunities, including a visible logo on all official event posters, which are posted at the four Grand Terrace public schools, different parks and businesses), and will additionally be acknowledged in the Grand Terrace Chamber of Commerce Blue Mountain Outlook newsletter and the Grand Terrace City News. Sponsorship due date is Friday, May 20. A residence shows visible damage from flooding, mud and debris following severe winter storms that began Dec. 23, which brought heavy rain and debris flows to mountain and high desert communities across San Bernardino County. This week, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors approved recovery-related fee waivers to help eligible property owners repair and rebuild as response and long-term recovery efforts continue.
