On Saturday, June 6,the 33rd annual Grand Terrace Community Day celebration was held at the Richard Rollins Park on De Berry in Grand Terrace. With nice overcast skies, the festivities started with opening ceremonies led by Kacy Carlsen, acting as emcee over all the presentations and announcements. A spectacular musical performance by the Grand Terrace High School Marching Band started the formalities, which included the Pledge of Allegiance with the Boy Scouts Troop 40 and The Star Spangled Banner. Stage presentations included Jenny Beach and her Jazzercise group performing choreography to Bruno Mars's ‘Uptown Funk,’ among other selections, got the crowd on their feet. A martial arts exhibit was presented by Sensei ‘Habu’ Robert Ewing of Habu Ewing Taekwondo Schools. Dancers of all styles from Kicks and Dance Dimensions studios took the stage, alongside Cheer and Pom Pom teams. The REC Center was on hand with special crafts for the kids and plenty of stage entertainment with Jim Gray and his guitar and vocal students providing entertainment. There were plenty of food vendors and local businesses and community organizations on hand to provide the public with lots of information and fun. The San Bernardino Animal Shelter came out to join the city’s party and as a result, three of their dogs were adopted into forever families. Sally McGuire, organizer of the event, took to Facebook to thank The Foundation of Grand Terrace for the yearly effort to bring the community of Grand Terrace in celebration of this fine community as she also thanked the many dedicated volunteers and generous sponsors that made the event so enjoyable this year.
