Local HS Senior Advances to Amateur Boxing Championships

COLTON >> Roxanne Bogarin, a 17-year-old senior from Arroyo Valley High School, defeated 19-year-old Dailya Cueva of Apple Valley May 15 at Notre Dame High School in Riverside. She now moves on to compete at the 5th Annual Southern California State Amateur Boxing Championship bouts in Menifee June 10 through 12. She has been under the skillful boxing training of Colton Boxing Club with her coach, Steve Aguilar, and her former professional boxing father, Alejandro Bogarin, since she was 5 years old. Her father competed as a Junior Middle Weight. Roxanne has a 3.68 GPA and is enrolled at CSUSB taking pathology and criminal science the training one would use as a CSI investigator. She is majoring in chemistry. The boxing bout will be held June 10 through 12 at the Valley Wide Recreation and Park District Gym, 28545 La Piedra Rd., Menifee, CA 92584.
