ALL>> John Quiñones, the host and creator of “What Would You Do?”, the highly-rated, hidden camera ethical dilemma television show and Derek Clark, an inspiring father known as the “Rapping Dad” will set the stage with inspiring keynote messages at the 30th Annual Children’s Network Conference on Sept. 14 and 15 at the Ontario Convention Center. The conference is one of the Inland Empire’s premier training events for professionals in the fields of social work, mental health, juvenile justice, child development, child welfare, medicine and nursing and is open to the public. Contact Children’s Network at (909) 383-9677 for more information or visit http://hs.sbcounty.gov/CN. On Sept. 14, journalist Quiñones will share his story about hardship and hunger that gave him the determination to turn disadvantages into assets. A lifetime of “never taking no for an answer” took Quiñones from migrant farm work and poverty to more than 30 years at ABC News and the anchor desk at 20/20 and Primetime. As host and creator of “What Would You Do?” Quiñones has become “the face of doing the right thing” to millions. The Sept. 15 keynote speaker, Clark, is a former foster youth who — with the help of his foster parents, social worker and mentors — overcame adversity. Clark has gone on to become a motivational speaker and viral video sensation known as the “Rapping Dad.” The conference will feature a number of sessions for professionals who work with children. “The 40 workshops at this year’s Children’s Network Conference will highlight topics including mindfulness, father involvement, domestic minor human trafficking, Autism Movement Therapy, internet safety and youth suicide prevention,” said Kathy Turnbull, Network Officer. The Children's Network of San Bernardino County works to improve the quality of life for children at risk who, because of behavior, abuse, neglect, medical needs, educational assessment, and/or detrimental daily living situations are eligible for services from one or more of the member agencies of the Children's Policy Council. Children’s Network is doing its part to help the community achieve the Countywide Vision by ensuring residents have the resources they need to provide the necessities of life to their families. Information on the Countywide Vision can be found at www.sbcounty.gov/vision.
