With a line that wrapped around the building and snaked into the store, Clark’s Nutrition and Natural Foods was packed with enthusiastic patrons anxiously awaiting their turn to meet special guest Lindsay Wagner last Sunday, June 9. Wagner, perhaps best known for her role as the Bionic Woman, greeted her fans with a smile as she autographed several dozen copies of her cookbook, “The High Road to Health: Vegetarian Cookbook.” According to Wagner, the cookbook is a compilation of sorts, pulling recipes from several different sources including the likes of Arrowhead Mills and co-author, Ariane Spade. As for some of Wagner’s favorite recipes that can be food in her book, she says, “Two of my favorites are the split pea and sweet potato soup and the brown rice and springtime vegetables.” In addition to the book signing, the event offered a free sample of Wagner’s favorite dishes, prepared by Clark’s private chef, Chef Ana. Wagner and Chef Ana selected the recipes of choice. Also on display were a number of ingredients and shopping lists that the different recipes called for, providing a visual reference to aid people in buying the items needed for a specific recipe. According to Clark’s Marketing Director, Mike Barnett, Wagner has been a customer of Clark’s for a number of years and thought it would be a great opportunity to not only promote her cookbook but also reach out to members of the community who have similar heath-conscious values. “Clark’s is always trying to educate the community on healthy lifestyles and healthy living,” said Barnett. Eager customers posed with Wagner for photos where they then proceeded to try individual samples of the split pea and sweet potato soup and brown rice with vegetables. With a newly signed cookbook in arm, customers noted their excitement to get home and try out some of the recipes for themselves.
