MORENO VALLEY >> Seven California Baptist University wrestlers recently received Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic honors. Zach McKenna, Brady Bersano and Nolan Kistler all fit the bill and not only excelled in the classroom, but on the mat, as well. The trio was named to the RMAC's All-Academic first team. Four more Lancers: Bryce Benlian, Austin Kleint, Aaron Wu and Trent Smith were chosen for the honor roll. To be eligible for consideration, student-athlete must carry a 3.30 cumulative grade point average and must have been an active student at the institution for at least two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters. Bersano and Kistler were two of the four All-Americans that represented CBU this year. At 157 pounds, Bersano placed second at the NCAA Division II Championships, while Kistler took seventh in the 165-pound bracket. McKenna (125) came in to the season late but made decisive wins that would lead to much of the Lancers' postseason success. Kistler was already recognized for his academic success this season as he was named the RMAC Summit Award Winner and was honored with the NCAA Elite 90 Award. Both awards recognized his 3.98 GPA with a criminal justice major. Holding a 3.64 GPA for the year, Bersano is expected to graduate this spring with a major in marketing. McKenna is currently in graduate school and boasts a 3.84 GPA in exercise science.
