SAN BERNARDINO>> The San Bernardino National Forest will be seeking public input for their upcoming State of California Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division grants that will be submitted on March 6, 2017. California state regulations require public input prior to the preliminary application deadline in this fund allocation process. The agreements support Off-Highway Vehicle management activities on the national forest, including operations and maintenance, law enforcement, development, planning, restoration and education and safety. The State of California Department of Parks and Recreation and the San Bernardino National Forest have maintained a partnership for more than 30 years, with funding assistance for well-managed OHV recreation on National Forest lands. In 2016, the Forest obtained more than $600,000 in grant funds to provide the public with world-class OHV recreation opportunities. The San Bernardino National Forest is encouraging the public to provide suggestions for grants that will better the OHV program. The meeting will be held Thursday, Feb. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the San Bernardino National Forest Supervisor’s Office, located at 602 S. Tippecanoe Ave. San Bernardino, CA. If those interested are unable to attend the meetings, or have any questions, the Forest Service would like to receive input to this application. The preference for receiving comments is by email and those interested are asked to email comments to dkopp@fs.fed.us by Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017 with the words “OHV Grant Application” in the subject line. If those interested in sending their comments are unable to send comments electronically, they may also be sent to the following address: OHV Grant Application - Deveree Kopp, USFS Mountaintop Ranger Station P.O. Box 290 Fawnskin, CA 92333-0290.
