Catalytic converter theft has become a nationwide issue, and the City of Moreno Valley is working hard to protect the community.
Businesses are legally required to purchase converters exclusively from commercial enterprises or verified vehicle owners. Businesses must also maintain a written record of the vehicle from which the converter was removed and maintain a copy of the vehicle’s title. Penalties for violating these laws can potentially reach up to $7800.
