The community recently gathered to celebrate another successful Little League season at the Ken Hubbs Memorial Little League Park in Colton, with closing ceremonies. Friends, family members, and fans of little league players came to attend the ceremony honoring the baseball and softball teams who worked and played hard throughout the season. Starting the ceremony off was the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance and the Little League Pledge which strives for good sportsmanship as “whether they win or lose, the teams will do their best.” The little league teams consisted of homages to MLB teams like the Red Sox and the Yankees but also included very unique team names including the Lugnuts, the Muckdogs, the Rivercats, and the Hooks. In addition to honoring the teams for their hard work, trophies were handed out honoring individual players who excelled greatly in baseball and softball. Each All-Star player received a special trophy, recognition by the little league association, and a certificate honoring their accomplishment. From the stadium, proud parents applauded when they saw their child’s named and team get called for the excellence they both achieved. As the sun set over Ken Hubbs Memorial Little League Park, the ceremony came to the end and the little league season came to an end. Next up for the Little Leaguers of Colton will be competing in the state wide Little League Championship to be the top team in the state of California. The ending of the Little League Baseball and Softball season opens up to the beginning of the summer for the children to enjoy after the hard work they put in for their teams.
