Moreno Valley Unified School District Board Member Jesus Holguin seeks re-election to a fourth term this November. “With all the changes taking place affecting education in California, we have a great opportunity to provide our students with the best quality educational services,” Holguin, who has served on the MVUSD board since 2002, said. “I look forward to having the opportunity to continue working on the ongoing development and implementation of the Strategic Plan, which will provide our students with the opportunity to have access to a very successful future.” The district’s Strategic Plan is set to provide current, standards-aligned materials and instructions for all students and develop partnerships with parents, community, business and labor groups to support student academic goals and career aspirations. Holguin said, “We all should continue supporting (the Strategic Plan’s) implementation to see positive results for all of our students.” Holguin earned his bachelors degree in business administration and accounting and earned a Certificate in Human Resources Management from Cal State San Bernardino. He has served as president of the Riverside County School Boards Association, has been employed by the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools since 1985 and for 19 years has been involved in school and district-level parenting groups like the PTA and Site Council. Holguin said, “We need to keep what’s working and maintain the same team in place, so that the plan that has been developed over the last two years with the assistance and input from all stakeholders in the community can be successfully implemented and continuously monitored. This plan…will bring the much desired positive results for all of our students at all levels, and not only will our graduation rate continue increasing, but all of our students will be college or career ready upon graduation.” Holguin finished, “I want our district to be a place where people want to work for and students want to attend our schools, and everyone feels proud of being part of our family.” Other candidates for MVUSD school board include incumbents Gary Baugh and Cleveland Johnson, who both seek re-election; and Delorise Anderson.
