Deadline Approaching for Military Banner and Paver Program

As a tradition to honor those who have served in the US military, the City of Moreno Valley operates two programs designed to recognize the men and women who have served or are currently serving. The Veteran's Military Appreciation Banners display residents' names, photos, and branches of service, in support of local military personnel and to instill a sense of patriotism and pride throughout the community. The banner program is partially sponsored by the Moreno Valley Chamber of Commerce's Military Affairs Committee. As a result of their contribution, the total remaining cost for a banner to be created and installed on a city street light pole is $100. The Veteran's Military Program pavers are located around the Veteran's Memorial, in the roundabout at the Civic Center, and are inscribed with the names of military veterans and active-duty service personnel and their branch of service. Pavers are $200. To qualify for a banner, honorees must be active-duty military service personnel who are residents of Moreno Valley, who have immediate family residing in Moreno Valley, or who have graduated from a Moreno Valley High School. To qualify for a paver, honorees must be currently serving or have served in the US military or with a US ally. Though applications may be submitted any time, the City is currently accepting banner and paver installation orders from the community for installation by the Memorial Day Ceremony. Applications are due by March 20 for a Memorial Day display. For more information on how you or someone you know can take advantage of these programs, find this article at www.citynewsgroup.com, then click on "Moreno Valley" on the left-hand side of the page.
