In an economy that has weathered its fair share of challenges through the last decade, San Bernardino’s got its very own gem. Games for Fun, the largest billiard retailer west of the Mississippi River, has proven that craftsmanship, competitive pricing and outstanding customer service is the key not just to surviving tough economic times, but thriving. “We continue to grow, and I think that’s just simply through customer satisfaction,” said founder Kenny Renfroe. Housed off the I-215 freeway in a combined 26,000 square feet, Games for Fun is its own retailer and manufacturer with its own showroom, storage house and warehouse. They regularly provide service not only to local customers in San Bernardino and from nearby communities, but also to customers from states like Nevada and Arizona. Games for Fun provides an amalgam of services, including home installation and manufacturing of game tables and accessories, storage, moving and shipping services, restoration and repair. Its storage building allows customers to have their game tables stored, and later returned, sometimes with repairs or restorations to it. Because Games for Fun is its own manufacturer, explained Renfroe, Games for Fun can customize your game table and provide you with matching accessories – even if those accessories are purchased a month or years after the game table. By creating their own brands – their shuffleboard tables are their original Alley brand, while their air hockey and foosball tables are their original Marksman brand— they’ve also cut out the middleman, allowing customers to purchase game tables and accessories at lower prices; sometimes that equates up to a $150 to $200 difference in cost, explained Renfroe. “By branding our product, we’re providing not only a continued quality product but we’re also providing price points lower than the norm…because we’re the direct source,” said Renfroe. “It comes from the factory, right to our dock, right to your home.” Along with manufacturing and importing products, Games for Fun also rents game tables and accessories to customers for special occasions. Renfroe explained, “If you don’t necessarily want to own a game table, we can bring it to you on a rental basis. Service technicians bring it to your house on time and follow up the next day, on time, and remove it. This also creates another opportunity. Some consumers don’t necessarily need a brand new product, and if there’s savings, which there would be, after three or four rentals we can re-market that item as used.” There’s also relocation services consumers who are moving out of state may take advantage of. Games for Fun’s professional game table breakdown includes the rails, pockets, felt, slate, base and legs. The game tables are then loaded safely and securely on one of their fully-closed vans to be relocated anywhere. Games for Fun then contacts a certified Olhausen or Brunswick dealer to transport the table to the new home and install it. Once it’s time for installation, near or far, Games for Fun takes great care and pride in their work and always aim for complete customer satisfaction. Installation includes table set up, clean up and follow up. “The customer doesn’t have to worry about a subcontractor coming out and fixing something that’s maybe damaged or improperly done, which we don’t do anyway, because of our experience in doing this,” said Jim Wagner, a Games for Fun service technician of over 25 years. “That’s what’s kept Games for Fun, Games for Fun. If there’s something wrong, we won’t walk away. We let the customer know and we fix it in a very timely manner.” Renfroe closed, “People come in happy and they leave happy. We create products and then re-market to a known, needed market. We’re a jewel in San Bernardino. We’re very creative and very fulfilling.” Games for Fun is located at 895 West Rialto Avenue in San Bernardino. They are open Monday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
