Internationally-known comedian and star of the upcoming movie, “The Wedding Ringer,” Kevin Hart performed at Cal State San Bernardino’s Coussoulis Arena on Nov. 22. The show started off with an exclusive sneak peek to Jeremy Garelick’s “The Wedding Ringer,” a comedy film staring Kevin Hart, Jose Gad, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting and many others. “The Wedding Ringer’s” scheduled release date is Jan. 16. Opening for Hart was Joey Wells, whose jokes about college reality entertained the crowd. Because most of the attendees were students and professors, who were once students, the audience cheered in excitement to the relatable stories. Wells is a writer and actor who has made several appearances in Hart's other films, such as “Kevin Hart: Seriously Funny” and “Laugh at My Pain.” The second opening act, Na’lm Lynn, also appeared in Hart’s “Laugh at My Pain,” as well as “Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain.” Lynn’s skit was all about aging and the differences from being in his 20s to being in his 30s. The audience’s applauded in approval of the opening performance. Once the crowd was warmed up, in his black leather jacket, Hart introduced the theme to his brand new act. “What Now?” explained Hart, came from the questions his fans ask him. Fans constantly ask Hart what his shows will be about since it seems as if he has exhausted all his resources. Hart said, “Life experiences always give me something new to talk about.” Hart started off his routine with a story about his living situation. He made jokes about ordinary life situations varying from his interactions with his kids to his relationship with his wife. Hart’s act came complete with hand gestures and quick reenactments of various reactions the characters in his stories express. After many stories about the differences in the younger generations, Hart concluded his performance by connecting an hour’s worth of anecdotes into one joke that tied the story together. CSUSB students, professors, and attendees cheered and gave Hart a standing ovation as the comedian thanked his audience for their attendance and support.
