City Prepares for Christmas Season

COLTON>> While today is a day for carving the turkey and saying thanks, the City of Colton has been preparing for the holidays with many upcoming events that the community can be a part of. Although the holidays can also be a time of stress, Colton is hosting many events that residents can be a part of to enjoy the holiday season. On Friday, Dec. 2, the community can head to San Diego’s 39th annual holiday kick-off event, Balboa Park December Nights. Friends and families can join together for festive fun, food and attractions. From 2-10p.m., Colton residents can have fun together for $48 per person and $54 for non-residents. According to the December Nights website, the event is expected to attract more than 350,000 visitors to the park over to revel and enjoy the season. The event will offer seasonal entertainment as well as festive holiday lighting throughout the Park – from the Plaza de Panama canopy – to the Botanical Building – to the landmark Moreton Bay Fig Tree. For those who are in the mood to stay local, the community is invited to enjoy some holiday dancing at the Hutton Community Center Saturday, Dec. 3 from 1-4 p.m. It is $6 per member and $8 per non-member. The center is located at 660 Colton Ave, Colton, CA 92324. Participants are encouraged to bring a Christmas card that can be exchanged with a friend. Two weeks before Christmas, the annual Christmas Parade with take place Saturday Dec. 10 at 10 a.m. starting on La Cadena from O to C Street. The parade will feature floats, decorated cars and many members and organizations from the community. On the same day, the community can attend Christmas in the Park at Fleming Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m, located at 525 N. La Cadena Drive. Live entertainment will be available for guests to enjoy including vendors, class showcase and a fun zone.
