SAN BERNARDINO >> San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) softball freshman infielder Alexandra Woods (Riverside John Wesley North) has signed a letter of intent with Sterling College. Woods participated in all 37 games for SBVC, leading to a first team All-Foothill Conference selection in 2016. She played every position except catcher and tallied a .550 batting average with 13 RBI in conference play and set single-year and career SBVC marks with 12 sacrifices. SBVC ended the season tied for second in Conference for a playoff seed, but in head-to-head, they fell a game short of the post season. SBVC finished with a record of 15-22 overall and 10-5 in the Foothill Conference, finishing tied for second, wrapping up the regular season on an 8-2 run and of the nine position players, seven won All-Foothill Conference awards. Sterling College is located in Sterling, Kansas, which is about 75 miles northwest of Wichita and about 120 miles north of the Oklahoma-Kansas border. The Sterling College Warriors are coached by 3rd year head coach, Josh Musselman. In the 2016 season, the Warriors went 7-15 in conference play finishing 8th, with an overall record of 23-24, concluding the season in the KCAC Softball Tournament. Sterling College is in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) of NAIA.
