On Wednesday, March 16, County Deputies from Sheriff’s Central Station responded to the report of a stabbing that had just occurred. Deputies arrived at the location and found the victim suffering from a stab wound to his upper back. Medical aid was called and responded to the location. The victim was treated at the scene by fire personnel and ultimately transported by ambulance to a local hospital for additional care. The victim’s injuries are not considered to be life threatening. Deputies investigating the incident learned that the victim had gone to speak with a former girlfriend about family issues. While at the location, he was confronted by his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend/suspect, Xavier Mancha. The suspect was upset that the victim was at the location and challenged him to fight. The victim declined and began walking away. As he did so, the suspect attacked him from behind, stabbing him in the upper back with a knife sharpening rod. The suspect fled the location prior to deputies arriving but was located a short time later walking along the street approximately 1 mile from the residence. Mancha was taken into custody without incident and booked at San Bernardino Central Detention Center for Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
