Community Action Partnership of San Bernardino County (CAPSBC) was awarded a $10,000 grant from Citizens Business Bank to support its Family Development Program (FDP) in providing homeless prevention services to individuals and families struggling to pay their housing costs.

With the lingering effects of Covid still being felt today, “1 in 10 county residents have reported difficulty in paying their rent or mortgage” placing many individuals and families at risk of losing their housing according to the San Bernardino County Indicators Report.

"We are grateful to Citizens Business Bank for their continued support of our organization. The work we do serving our communities is made possible through valued partners like them,” said Patricia Nickols-Butler, CAPSBC President & Chief Executive Officer. “With affordable housing still out of reach for most people, this funding will assist our organization in serving more people in need and allow us to stabilize individuals and families who are in danger of eviction, foreclosure, or homelessness.”

“Our Bank is committed to giving back to the communities we serve together with organizations like Community Action Partnership of San Bernardino County,” said David Brager, President & Chief Executive Officer of Citizens Business Bank. “We recognize the importance of supporting affordable housing for low-to-moderate income individuals and families throughout San Bernardino County as a primary community need.”

CAPSBC has been at the forefront of providing housing services such as rental and mortgage assistance, transitional housing, and emergency housing.  CAPSBC operates an 8-unit transitional housing program for homeless families. In 2022, CAPSBC assisted 717 individuals with rental, mortgage, and rapid-rehousing services, and 535 homeless individuals received motel assistance.
