Following an extensive search, the CEO Selection Committee for Feeding America Riverside | San Bernardino (FARSB) announced today that Carolyn Solar would be named Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective April 4, 2022. Solar, a Riverside resident, has served on the FARSB team since 2017 and is only the second female CEO to hold this title in the food bank's 42-year history.

"Carolyn has been integral to the food bank's leadership team over the years," said Stephanie Otero, current CEO at FARSB. "She has demonstrated success delivering strong revenue growth, building effective teams, and diversifying both giving and programmatic opportunities within the community. I am fully confident she will continue to advance the mission of FARSB in new and impactful ways."

Solar's primary focus will include:

  • Assessing operational, programmatic, and financial performance.
  • Developing strategic and impactful regional partnerships.
  • Overseeing fundraising initiatives.

"I am humbled and honored to be leading an organization that provides value within the very community that I call home," said Carolyn Solar, incoming CEO. "The past four and a half years that I've spent at FARSB as a Marketing Coordinator, then Philanthropy Director, have challenged, motivated, and inspired me more than ever, and I am excited to take FARSB into its next phase," said Solar.

Solar received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a Public Relations concentration from California State University, San Bernardino, and a Master's in Business Administration from California Baptist University.

With Solar set to take leadership on April 4, 2022, a Development Director (formerly the Philanthropy Director) position is now open at FARSB. Those interested in applying can submit a resume and short cover letter outlining their qualifications to Joanna Solorio, Human Resources Director, at jsolorio@feedingamericaie.org.
