The Rotary Club of Colton hosted the 2022-23 Teen and Miss Colton Pageant on Sunday, May 22, adding 6 new members to the Royal Court of Colton. Back in 2019 after 28 years, the Rotary Club of Colton decided to bring back the Miss Colton pageant and crowned Lexie Trujillo as Miss Colton 2019-2022. At the end of 2019, the Rotary Club was shut down due to Covid. It has taken 3 years for the Rotary Club to get back to a point where they could host the next pageant. The Rotary Club would like to thank its sponsors, Theresa Ramos and the Teamsters 166 Union, who sponsored the contestants in this year’s pageant and allowed them to enter at no cost. Special thanks also to Karla’s Flowers for supplying the flowers, and Nickelodeon Pizza for allowing Rotary Club meetings to be held at their location.

16 young ladies competed for the title of Teen and Miss Colton this year. The contestants participated in a photo the week before the pageant and were interviewed by the judges prior to the actual pageant. During the pageant, they competed in sportswear, gown, and an onstage question. After all the scores were added up and the previous Miss Colton Lexie Trujillo gave an emotional farewell speech, the winners were announced.

In the Teen division: 2nd Teen Colton Princess is Mariah Perez, 1st Teen Colton Princess is Brooke Carlson, and Teen Miss Colton 2022-23 is Lesley Yanez. In the Miss Division: 2nd Miss Colton Princess is Lexie Saragosa, 1st Miss Colton Princess is Maggie Calderilla, and Miss Colton 2022-23 is Chantelle Martinez. Several other awards were given out, including Teen Miss Congeniality which went to Mariah Perez; Miss Congeniality which went to Natali Caseres; Teen Miss Photogenic which went to Marissa Lopez; and Miss Photogenic which went to Maggie Calderilla. Congratulations to all the winners!

The 2 queens, along with their court, will represent the City of Colton for the next year. If anyone is interested in entering Teen and Miss Colton next year, send a message to the "Miss Colton Pageant" Facebook page. Additionally, part of the royal court that was crowned last September are Hazelee Meza, Toddler Miss Colton; Aria Padilla, Little Miss Colton; and Jessa Martinez, Jr. Miss Colton. The Little Colton Queen Pageant will be held in September. Applications are available now and can be picked up and returned to Inland Valley Insurance located at 183 W. “H” Street, Colton, or requested through the “Miss Colton Pageant” Facebook page. This pageant is open to contestants between the age of 2-14 with 5 age groups being crowned.

The Rotary Club of Colton is always looking for sponsors to help host these events. If you or your company would like to be a part of the Miss Colton Pageant, please contact Pageant Director Erlinda Armendariz at 951-833-3306, or Rotary Club of Colton President Rosa Dominguez at 909-422-1000.
