National Education Association’s (NEA) “Read Across America Week”, sponsored by Moreno Valley Unified School District (MVUSD), is here. It officially kicks off on Monday, March 2, and runs through Friday, March 6. This nationwide celebration is held every year in honor of Dr. Seuss and most importantly celebrating his legacy to encourage children across the globe to read more and learn more. The reading time is only one hour, in which is perfect for any busy bee that would still want to make a positive impact on a child’s education, specifically their reading and literacy levels. The reading times vary amongst the schools throughout MVUSD. Everyone is encouraged to volunteer and to get creative with it. To make reading fun for the children, grouping up and inviting friends, family members, co-workers, etc. is encouraged. Anyone may sign up at http://www.nea.org/grants/886.htm. Plus, this gives anyone the opportunity to share a special moment while reading your favorite children's book to a class in Moreno Valley.
