Mayor's Weekly Message 44

By Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez

Dear Moreno Valley Residents,

Courage. Honor. Sacrifice.

These three words are embodied by the hundreds of thousands of military men and women who answered the call to serve our great country.

This month, we take the opportunity to pay tribute to our veterans, the service members who have sacrificed so much defending our freedoms and protecting our ideals.

Veterans Day falls on November 11. On Nov. 11, 1918, fighting in World War I came to an end following the signing of an armistice between the Allies and Germany that called for a ceasefire effective at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

We mark that anniversary by recognizing the selflessness and self-sacrifice by members of our armed forces.

It is their commitment and dedication that has helped to preserve the rights and freedoms that we hold so dear.

Please join the City of Moreno Valley in honoring our military men and women and the sacrifices they have made and continue to make to serve our country.

The Veterans Day Ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, November 11 at the Veterans Memorial at the Moreno Valley Civic Center.

Thank you to the members of our armed forces for your courage, your honor, and your sacrifice.
