In a powerful display of community pride and volunteer spirit, residents of Redlands gathered this past weekend for the 17th Annual Community Day of Service—transforming Ford Park into a shining example of what collective effort can achieve.

From early morning, hundreds of neighbors arrived with gloves, shovels, and an unmistakable sense of purpose. Families, students, local organizations, and longtime residents worked side by side, dedicating their Saturday to restoring and beautifying one of the city’s most cherished public spaces. By day’s end, the results were impossible to miss.

Every corner of Ford Park received careful attention. Volunteers cleared debris, refreshed landscaping, and revitalized well-loved areas ranging from the dog park, to the tranquil ponds, and the scout grounds. Pathways were tidied, greenery was restored, and the park—already a local treasure—was given a renewed sense of vibrancy.

Events like this highlight what makes Redlands unique. Beyond the visible improvements, the day served as a reminder of the strong civic spirit that defines the community. It was not just about maintaining a park—it was about strengthening connections among neighbors and taking shared ownership of the city’s public spaces.

Organizers from the Redlands Service Club Council played a key role in coordinating the effort, ensuring that volunteers were equipped and projects ran smoothly. Meanwhile, members of Kiwanis kept participants energized throughout the day, providing food and refreshments that fueled the collective effort.

For many who participated, the reward was more than a cleaner park—it was the sense of unity and pride that comes from working together toward a common goal. As one volunteer put it, “This is what community looks like.”

Today, Ford Park stands not only as a beautiful green space, but as a testament to what can happen when a community comes together with generosity and care. Residents are encouraged to visit, take in the improvements, and enjoy a space that has been refreshed by the very people who call Redlands home.

In Redlands, community isn’t just a word—it’s something you can see, feel, and build together.
