On Tuesday, May 2, the California Association of Public Information Officials (CAPIO) gave two awards to the City of Moreno Valley for excellence in public information and communications.

The City received awards for its Know MoVal animated video series and its “Let’s Be Pool Safe” public service announcement. The awards were announced during the CAPIO Annual Conference in Monterey, California.

“Our Media & Communications Division always goes above and beyond when crafting engaging content highlighting our incredible community,” said Mayor Ulises Cabrera. “These awards solidify that they are among the best media professionals in California. I want to congratulate our Media & Communications Team once again on a job well done.”

Launched in 2022, Know MoVal offers the community a glimpse into the inner workings of City government. The ongoing series features City Hall, the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter, the Moreno Valley Senior Center, and more.

The City’s “Let’s Be Pool Safe” public service announcement debuted in 2022 and educates parents and children about how to stay safe in and around pools during the summer season. The animated video presents crucial safety information in a fun and appealing manner.

CAPIO is the leading statewide organization dedicated to advancing public sector communicators across all levels of government. CAPIO has over 700 members from municipalities and public sector organizations throughout California.

Since 2020, the City of Moreno Valley has received six CAPIO Awards of Distinction for its video production series, social media campaigns, and more.
