CJUSD Honors Veterans

Several special programs to recognize veterans, active duty military and emergency service personnel took place at Colton Joint Unified School District schools during the week of Nov. 5-10. These special ceremonies, a tradition in the Colton Joint Unified School District, are a way to honor and recognize local heroes for their selfless service to our community and nation. The events also help students to learn about history in a meaningful way.

Programs included student performances, speeches, the posting of colors, history lessons, special meals, and moments of silence. Veterans and active duty military personnel were the guests of honor at these events. Many of those who attended the ceremonies are family members of current students or attended our schools themselves. Some are CJUSD staff members.

At several schools, students also made posters, cards, and paper poppies to share with veterans, including those at the Jerry L. Pettis Memorial VA Medical Center in Loma Linda.
