Colton Church Council Breakfast is a Tremendous Success

Last Saturday, Oct. 12 2024, Dr.G hosted an All-Church Community Breakfast gathering of forty people, including Pastors, leaders and/or representatives. The event was part of the newly established Colton Council of Churches which started in February with the goal of networking, prayer, mutual inspiration, and discussion. “This event was certainly a good step in that direction,” reflected Edward Nunez (Echoes of Love).

“This was a terrific event,” commented Hanna Avalos (Missionary Bible) who has followed this organization from the beginning. Her Husband, Arnold started off the 8:00am program with an opening prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Nick Zupkofska (Grove Community), the playing of “America” by Dr.G on the trumpet.

The All-Church breakfast idea was created by Dr.G, founder of the Church Council, who not only invited the Colton Churches to participate, but collaborated with the Colton Woman’s Club and the Colton Lions Club. “We were very happy to help,” says Cynthia Calderilla, President of the Colton Lions, who continued, “We’ll set the date for next year because this is an excellent community event.”

The program included the formal welcome, the serving of food, the singing of traditional hymns, a message “On Prayer” by Dr.G, and special prayers offered by Pastor Joshua Sarmiento (Amazing Grace) and Pastor David Hallbauer (Missionary Bible).

According to Dr.G, “The purpose of this new association is to bring representatives of all Colton churches together. So far-to-date, twenty-five churches have participated in the monthly meetings, and gradually others are joining in. This event, the All-Church Prayer Breakfast, along with the National Day of Prayer (May 2) and the recent Community Breakfast (Sept 28) are starting to develop into an inspiring schedule of yearly events with are making a “spiritual” impact on our community.

Over time, this association looks to continue their meetings, but is also planning additional community activities that bring the churches together. One response offered by a regular attender was Cathy Cook (Greater Works), who commented, “I attended the Church Council because it’s important to network and be aware of what’s happening with churches in the community.” Several of the church leaders have attended more than once, and overall, the attendance has been very good. “It’s good to get to know new people,” said Pastor David Hallbauer, who not offered the closing prayer but is a new Pastor in the community.

As long as the attendance remains steady and the interest in the association continues to develop and grow, the Colton Council of Churches will move forward with its plans. DrG has already reserved the Woman’s Club for future monthly meetings through December, and more than likely in the coming year. The meetings normally fall on the fourth Saturday of each month at 9:00am.
