Crafton Hills College (CHC) is thrilled to announce the approval of a new Bachelor of Science degree in Respiratory Care, continuing the college’s legacy of proactively meeting the workforce readiness needs for the Inland Empire and beyond.
This will be the first bachelor's degree program to be created, approved, and offered by CHC and will join the college's existing associate degree program in Respiratory Care.
“This program is in direct response to the growing need for highly-trained respiratory therapists in our region,” said CHC President Dr. Kevin Horan. “Students will be able to receive training right here at CHC and be workforce ready on graduation day.”
The field of respiratory care specializes in pulmonary medicine and working with patients with lung diseases. Respiratory therapists diagnose, treat and manage a person's respiratory system. In this field of study, the focus is on lung function and treatment options for improving it.
Students who pursue this career path will be prepared for a wide range of medical settings where they will work with modern technologies and provide care for patients of all ages. A bachelor's degree in respiratory care can lead to employment in a variety of healthcare settings, including:
- Respiratory therapy technician
- Respiratory Therapist
- Cardiovascular technician
- Medical services manager
- Senior respiratory therapist
- Sales representative
Students will be able to enroll soon for a fall 2023 start. For more information about the program, email Respiratory Therapy Program Director Dr. Michael Sheahan at msheahan@craftonhills.edu.
