Crafton Hills College (CHC) was ranked as the region's top community college for the University of California (UC) transfer admission rates during the 2023 application cycle, according to the UC Information Center. This achievement reflects CHC’s commitment to providing accurate, efficient and proactive counseling services, as well as robust transfer support services. CHC recognizes that the transfer admission process is a critical milestone for students aiming to continue their higher education at prestigious institutions like those in the UC system. The success in achieving high transfer admission rates is attributed to the dedication of CHC’s Counseling Department and University Transfer Center, both of which play a pivotal role in guiding students through the complex transfer process.
Mariana Macamay, CHC’s University Transfer Center faculty coordinator and counselor, explained, “Our counselors are committed to staying up-to-date and current in transfer admission criteria, participating in regular training sessions to enhance their knowledge and skills. This commitment ensures that CHC students receive the most accurate and relevant information, enabling them to make informed decisions about transfer to four-year institutions.”
An integral component of CHC’s success is the noteworthy performance of its Latinx and African American/Black students. These students not only met but exceeded the achievements of other ethnic groups in successfully applying and being admitted to UC campuses. Fostering an inclusive and supportive environment that empowers students from all backgrounds to achieve their academic goals is an essential part of the college’s mission.

Since its opening in 1972, more than 100,000 people of different ages, interests, and backgrounds have attended CHC, drawn to the outstanding educational opportunities available to students interested in earning two-year associate degrees, transferring to four-year colleges and universities to obtain bachelor's degrees, career and technical education programs, and general education to increase job effectiveness or learn new skills.
CHC offers more than 50 majors in the liberal arts and sciences, vocations and technical studies, and currently serves about 7,900 students. Students can receive multidisciplinary degrees, including Fine Arts, Health Sciences, Liberal Studies - Teacher Preparation, and Social Science, and the Fire Science and Emergency Medical Services-Paramedics programs are some of the finest community college programs in the state, with CHC the primary trainer for paramedics in San Bernardino and Riverside counties. CHC also has the distinction of being the top community college in the Inland Empire when it comes to degree/certificate completion rates and course retention/success rates.
Professors are experts in their field and are active in their professions outside of the classroom. Because class sizes are small, professors are easily accessible, offer one-on-one support, and often take students on field trips. Cultural, social, and recreational opportunities abound, and there are clubs for all interests as well as theater arts productions and musical performances year-round. CHC's facilities are spacious and welcoming and include a health and wellness center, an art gallery, an aquatics center and a child development center.
