Thinkwise Credit Union announced that it created care packages, made from the toiletries donated by its members and staff, to give to local homeless individuals and families. The credit union partnered with the Kiwanis Club of Greater San Bernardino and the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department to help distribute the care packages to San Bernardino’s homeless community.

According to the 2019 San Bernardino County Homeless Count and Subpopulation Survey Final Report, there were 890 homeless individuals in the City of San Bernardino. A total of 639 individuals were listed as unsheltered, which is nearly double from 2018.

“Homelessness is a huge concern in our city, and our credit union is committed to helping as many of these individuals as we can. We’re very thankful for our members and their willingness to help us serve those beyond the walls of our credit union. Giving back to our community is a big part of who we are and what we’re about,” said Heri Garcia, President and CEO of Thinkwise Credit Union.

The credit union delivered 41 care packages to the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department, which included shampoo, deodorant, soap, oral care, toiletry kits and more. The care packages will be distributed this month to those in need within our community.
