RIVERSIDE >> After a stellar collegiate debut, California Baptist University's Berenice Cleyet-Merle was named the PacWest Track Athlete of the Year, announced Wednesday, June 8. Cleyet-Merle finished the track season on a high note, taking third overall at the NCAA Division II Championship in the 1500-meter event. She almost broke her own CBU record, clocking in at four minutes and 23.87 seconds, just milliseconds off her school record of 4:23.24. She also holds the CBU record in the 800-meter with a time of 2:08.41 and won the PacWest Championship in that event.
