East Valley Water District welcomed its newly appointed Governing Board Member Chris Carrillo on Wednesday, Sept. 24. The regularly scheduled Board meeting concluded the recent board member selection process. "We are very pleased with the level of experience and professionalism that Board Member Carrillo brings to East Valley Water District," said Chairman James Morales, Jr. "The District took great care to conduct a fair process that encouraged a high level of community engagement." Board Member Chris Carrillo was selected from over a dozen interested community members, through a fair and consistent process. EVWD customers were invited to submit an interest application following the untimely passing of long-time Board Member Kip Sturgeon. All qualifying applicants were welcomed at the Sept. 10 Board meeting and given an opportunity to publicly highlight why they wanted to serve on the Board of Directors. The top five candidates were identified and invited to participate in interviews at a special meeting on Sept. 22, where Chris Carrillo was ultimately selected. Board Member Carrillo was administered the official Oath of Office at the Sept. 24 Board meeting where he hit the ground running by taking his place on the dais and carrying out the remainder of the board meeting. “I am excited to serve our community on this Board and help to shape water policy for the residents of Highland and San Bernardino,” said Board Member Chris Carrillo. Board Member Chris Carrillo grew up in the Highland area, where he now lives with his wife and family. He has already dedicated his career to public service and to working on public policy. With professional experience at both the federal and county levels of government, Board Member Carrillo has contributed to a wide variety of regional issues including those impacting the water industry. Board Member Carrillo graduated from Loyola Law School and is a licensed attorney in the California State Courts. He holds a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from Claremont Graduate University and a Bachelor’s Degree in American Government from Georgetown University.
