On Sunday Aug. 23rd at 3 p.m., 21 seniors over the age of 90 celebrated their “Unbirthday Party” at the Il Sorrento Senior Mobile Home Park clubhouse in Moreno Valley. Helen Davis started the program by addressing the inspiration of the party, which was the story of Alice in Wonderland. When Alice attended the tea party, the Mad Hatter clarified that everyone celebrated their birthday on that day. The celebration at Il Sorrento was exclusively for seniors who reached 90 years old and more. Among the seniors at the party was Wally Page, nicknamed the “youngster,” having turned 90 years old this year. The eldest senior attending, Connie Gee, turned 98 years old. Volunteers presented the seniors with handcrafted gifts and knitted lap blankets, followed by distribution of cake. Also, O.J. Philpot provided music entertainment with singing and playing the guitar. “You couldn’t ask for a better set up,” commented Bill Manner, who had turned 92 years old in June. He had also taken part in 17 activities offered last month at the mobile home park, commending the facility on its active atmosphere. “It’s a nice place to be,” Manner said.
