During the Tuesday, December 20 meeting, the Moreno Valley City Council unanimously appointed District 4 Council Member Cheylynda Barnard as the City's next Mayor Pro Tem.

"Cheylynda Barnard is an exemplary public servant, and I am proud that she is our next Mayor Pro Tem," said Mayor Ulises Cabrera. "Since her election, Mayor Pro Tem Barnard has dedicated herself to serving our City, and her natural-born leadership and collaborative spirit make her the ideal Mayor Pro Tem. I congratulate Mayor Pro Tem Barnard on her appointment, and I look forward to working alongside her during the exciting year ahead."

"I am honored and grateful to hold the title of Mayor Pro Tem, and I would like to thank the City Council and the Moreno Valley community for their confidence in me," said Mayor Pro Tem Barnard. "I will continue to dutifully represent the City I call home and work collaboratively with my colleagues on the Council to ensure our community continues to thrive."

Mayor Pro Tem Barnard has represented District 4 since she was elected to the Moreno Valley City Council in November 2022. Mayor Pro Tem Barnard currently serves on the City's Parks, Community Services & Trails Committee, the Utilities Commission, the Finance Subcommittee, and the Parks & Community Services Council Committee. She also represents the City of Moreno Valley at the Riverside County Habitat Conservation Agency (RCHCA).
