Inland Empire United Way teamed up with Hope Reigns Foundation for the 4th consecutive year to raise funds to address the deep needs of disadvantaged children in the region. On Thursday evening, Feb. 19, more than 550 guests gathered at the Citizens Business Bank Arena for the Challenge for Children Winter Benefit. Guests were treated to an evening including the smooth jazz sounds of A. Ray Fuller and dinner on the arena floor, followed by entertainment from the Crown City Bombers and Crazy Dance Society Swing Dancers. The focus of the evening was the message of Delivering Hope. In total, the event generated proceeds that will be directed toward programs aimed at helping low-income children in the Inland Empire succeed in school and reach future self-sufficiency. These programs include: United Way’s Kids Pack, School Tools, Promise Scholars and Mentor Connection programs and Hope Reign’s Education Initiative. The goal is to help underprivileged youth in the region be healthy, succeed academically and break the cycle of poverty.
