PSG/Wilden Pump in Grand Terrace recently hosted Manufacturing Day at their facility. Oct. 3, nationally-proclaimed Manufacturing Day, was developed to bring awareness to manufacturing in the U.S.A. In just three years, National Manufacturing Day has achieved more than 1,600 manufacturing plant tours and events with an estimated 100,000+ attending around the United States. This day at PSG/Wilden Pump was dedicated to inspiring local students to work toward a field in manufacturing. Over 60 people came in and listened to presentations about manufacturing and then took a tour of the plant. Attendees got an up-close look at the local company that invented the air-operated, double-diaphragm pump and whose products are used across the globe to pump everything from candy coatings and beer to paint and gasoline. Wilden's pumps clear out flooded buildings and mines, and help factories process toxic waste. Known for innovation and high quality, Wilden pumps work 24/7. The public learned how the company designs, prototypes, tests, manufactures, assembles and ships their world-famous pumps using “lean” techniques, optimized production technologies and efficient quality control systems. Company officials share that the company was very excited and honored to host the event. The students and all who showed to attend were very motivated to be a part of MFG day and asked very intelligent and inspiring questions.
