SOAR Academy Students Celebrate National School Week

SOAR Academy welcomed their students, staff, and community back to school with a bang. Their middle school awards ceremony aimed to start off the New Year by getting rid of back-from-break blues with gratitude and a collaborative student dance routine. According to Co-Founder and Director of Human Resources/Public Relations Tammi Fort, the up-beat dance routine was to commemorate National School Choice Week 2016 in which is the nation’s largest ever celebration of opportunity in education. As students, proud parents, and family members started to pile into the auditorium, they were greeted with refreshments: cold beverages and sweet treats. The first half-hour was mingling among friends, parents and students as everyone found a seat. As everyone settled in and took a seat, the awards ceremony kicked off with an introduction by a very own SOAR Academy student. She explained, “School Choice means that families are able to select the best education environment… every January National School Choice shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for children. School Choice Week is now the world’s largest annual education-related celebration.” Students from Ms. Borninkhof’s class prepared a dance routine to celebrate the School Choice Week. The routine involved up-beat choreography and a catchy song. The awards ceremony then recognized those well-deserving students that have worked hard and obviously portrayed their best qualities in the classroom and throughout school in general. To shine a light on a few students, there were six Perfect Attendance Awards that were given away and according to the guidelines, “Perfect Attendance” is not as easy to achieve as one may think; it’s a pretty big deal. In order to receive it, a student must go throughout every day, including six periods, without tardiness, absences, and even early dismissals. “Perfect Attendance” takes a lot of support and consistent hard work to achieve. The six students received two tickets to Regal Cinema tickets and ten dollars to spend at the snack bar at school.
