Your San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District Candidate

In spite of the fact that our Governor declared, last year, that the drought was over, our San Bernardino Basin is in the middle of a 20 drought, which has not ended! In fact, although we received about 49,000 acre feet of water in the 2016-17 water year (basically average for our area), in the 2017-18 water year we received only 15,000 acre feet, one third the average.

It is the responsibility of the San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District (Muni) to ensure that there is adequate water to serve our Cities and Water Districts, as they in turn, serve our residences and businesses. Because of this tremendous responsibility, Muni is required to plan years in advance to develop adequate infrastructure and storage facilities which will satisfy these needs. They must also provide facilities which will accommodate the growth needed to serve our children and grandchildren, as well as economic growth.

As a member of the SB Valley Water Conservation District Board, as well as holding other water related positions, I have been intensely focused on the provision and management of water for our valley. In addition, I have attended nearly every Muni Board meeting and Board workshop for the past two years. I have also studied their agendas, reports and decisions to learn as much as possible about their vital service to our basin.

I am also Vice-Chairman of the Local Government Committee of the statewide Assn. of Calif. Water Agencies. This organization focuses on and educates about, the complicated management of water throughout our State. I am also a Board Member of the Association of San Bernardino County Special Districts, of which Muni and the Conservation District are both members. This Association assists all of the Special Districts in San Bernardino County.

I am a candidate for the position of District 4 Director on the Muni Board because I feel I am the most qualified and experienced candidate for the duties and essential responsibilities of a Muni Board Member. In addition, I thoroughly enjoy being involved in the acquisition, delivery and management of water!!
