Wayne Hendrix Runs for SBVMWD Division 3

Water in the San Bernardino Valley Basin has been my passion for over 30 years. During that time, I've been a civil engineer working on local water projects and major infrastructure. I've worked hard for my living. I bring technical expertise to this office, and my commitment to keep costs as low as possible for the hard-working taxpayers of the district. I attended San Bernardino Valley College, then Cal Poly Pomona, where I was a member of the honor society Phi Kappa Phi. I have worked as an independent contractor and as vice president of Matich Corporation. I appreciate the opportunities I have had for community service. For the past 5+ years, I worked on the San Bernardino Board of Water Commissioners. Prior to that, I served as a planning commissioner and a building commissioner. Because of my profession and service, I have, and will continue to, work with the Regional Watershed Project Authority, Flood Control Districts, the State Department of Water Resources, the State Division of Dam Safety, and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. If the voters elect me to the SBVMWD Board of Directors, I will work with our school districts to support conservation education. Water conservation is a learned habit. As a child, we had a well. We could not waste water, lest the well run dry. To this day, water conservation is ingrained in me. Our students must learn that water doesn't come from the faucet, that it doesn't stay clean by itself, and that we must share it with animals, farmers, and our neighbors. Further, if elected, I will work to see the District recharge the basin more efficiently by collaborating with the retail water agencies. SBVMWD doesn't sell water to consumers; it provides/sells it to retail water agencies. As an engineer, I see practical, cost-efficient solutions to many of our water challenges. San Bernardino Valley has a substantial basin with high-quality water. I will work to keep our basin as full as practical, maintain the quality of our water, and keep taxes as low as possible. I would appreciate your vote.
