SAN BERNARDINO>> The Inland Empire Surf Soccer Club presented a check for $3,271 to St. Bernardine Medical Center Foundation in November to support the hospital’s oncology fund. The donation will go toward the purchase of Amoena Camisoles for breast cancer patients who have had a mastectomy. Amoena Camisoles are garments worn in the sensitive time after surgery to provide gentle compression, to protect skin and to promote healing. “A diagnosis of breast cancer can be trying for patients and their families – physically, emotionally and financially,” said Dan Murphy, Vice President of Philanthropy at Dignity Health - St. Bernardine Medical Center Foundation. “This gift will allow our patients to receive something that will assist them as they recover. All of us at St. Bernardine are extremely thankful to the children and families from the Inland Empire Surf Soccer Club for their generosity and kindness.” IESSC has 18 boys teams and 30 girls teams in the Inland Empire. The organization exists to create a rich and open environment for youth players to develop on all levels of the game of soccer including technical mastery, tactical intelligence, physical prowess and psychological strength. “Each year we try to give back to the community we represent and this year we were pleased to partner with Dignity Health – St. Bernardine Medical Center,” said Brian Young, President of the Inland Empire Surf Soccer Club. “Breast cancer has touched many in our community and we hope that this small gesture of support helps patients at St. Bernardine to recover and know that their community cares.”
