California State Assemblymember Cheryl Brown recently visited Dignity Health’s Community Hospital of San Bernardino. During the tour and conversation, hospital leadership shared information about the facility, Dignity Health’s community benefits program, and state legislation and health policies that impact the hospital and its patients. Assemblymember Brown’s visit included a tour of the Children’s Subacute Center, a 34-bed, freestanding pediatric subacute facility dedicated to meeting the needs of children who have long-term, clinically complex conditions. “We are very fortunate to have this extraordinary facility in the 47th District,” said Assemblymember Brown. “Along with the specialized care needed by each resident, I was impressed with the warm, family centered atmosphere,” Brown added. Following the tour, hospital president, June Collison, and Margaret Hill, a member of Community Hospital’s Board of Directors, discussed state issues and health policies. “Maintaining relationships with our elected representatives is a priority as it relates to increasing awareness and understanding for the services and care we provide as well as to discuss how state and federal legislation and policies impact our patients and hospital operations,” said Collison. “I deeply valued the tour and conversation,” said Assemblymember Brown. “Here in the 47th District, Community Hospital of San Bernardino is a cornerstone in the community that has been providing high quality health care services for over 100 years.” Collison said the meeting with the state legislator was an opportunity to highlight the positive impact Community Hospital makes through its community benefits program and specialized services. “We sincerely appreciate that Assemblymember Brown took the time to visit the Children’s Subacute Center. Our teams of specialty physicians, highly trained nurses, case managers and therapists offer exceptional patient care and I’m pleased she was able to see firsthand the quality of health care provided to our patients.”

A residence shows visible damage from flooding, mud and debris following severe winter storms that began Dec. 23, which brought heavy rain and debris flows to mountain and high desert communities across San Bernardino County. This week, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors approved recovery-related fee waivers to help eligible property owners repair and rebuild as response and long-term recovery efforts continue.
