Free Movie Night in Honor of National Literacy Month

Honouring National Literacy Month, the Colton Public Library will host a free Family Literacy Movie Night on Friday, Sept. 18. The event will provide community information at 5 p.m. and a special drive-in movie style screening of “Spare Parts” featuring George Lopez which will begin at dusk. Other free and unique services and events are offered at the Colton Public Library to help aid both kids and adults in advancing their literacy. Open from 3-6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, the Homework Assistance Center helps young students from grades 3-8 with their homework. Parents are required to be with their children at all times. An Adult Basic Computer Class is also provided at the library for those who need help with understanding how to operate computer functions. “Colton Public Library’s Adult Basic Computer Class has proven so popular, there is a wait list for the next session,” stated on the library website. For those interested in volunteering to become tutors, the Advance to Literacy Program provides free materials and training to the public.
