MORENO VALLEY >> "As Mayor of Moreno Valley, I am excited to announce that the City Council approved the Hire MoVal to Small Businesses program. As you may know, this is an initiative that I have championed and sponsored to bring more local jobs to Moreno Valley as well as attract new businesses to our City and support our existing businesses," said Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez. It is the part I of the original Hire MoVal program. The original program encourages Moreno Valley large-sized businesses to hire Moreno Valley residents and at the same time receive economic incentives. This Hire MoVal for small businesses (part II) does the same thing but in a different way. Business owners who hire at least 40 percent MoVal residents are eligible to apply. Additionally, existing small business owners can apply and it is a citywide program. Please contact Mike Lee for an application at mikel@moval.org. Eligible business owners will receive a waiver of their business license tax, access to our Employment Resource Center, access to our Small Business Development resources, and up to $3,000 in energy efficiency programs through the Moreno Valley Utility. For the Hire MoVal program, you can go to http://www.moreno-valley.ca.us/edd/in-hire-mv.shtml. Additionally, please check out the state's resources for small businesses, including other tax credits and services available at http://businessportal.ca.gov/Incentives.
