The Inland Master Chorale presents Christmas with Brass on December 9 and 10 at the First United Methodist Church, One East Olive Avenue in Redlands.
The concert features John Rutter’s “Gloria,” a three-movement work for choir, a brass ensemble, percussion and organ. Heather DeGuzman, Susan Meinders, Lynn Ivey are soloists in the “Gloria.”
Other concert selections include “Hark! the Herald Angels Sing,” “O come, O Come, Emmanuel,” “O Magnum Mysterium,” and “Hodie Christus Natus Est.” A medley of traditional carols, “Christmas Day,” includes solos by Grace Stewart, Helen Tait, and Rick Wood. Raul Valdez-Perea will sing the intonation for Franz Biebl’s “Ave Maria.”
The audience will be invited to join the Chorale in a sing-along of holiday favorites and on the final piece, a pairing of “Peace, Peace” and “Silent Night.”
Dr. Joseph Modica is in his first season as the Chorale’s Artistic Director. He is Associate Professor of Music at the University of Redlands and Director of Pastoral Music at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in Hollywood.
Anna De Leon is the Chorale’s Assistant Director and Director of Choirs at Grand Terrace High School. University of Redlands graduate, Sophie Tait, serves as accompanist. The 70-member Chorale includes singers from throughout the Inland Empire.
The Chorale’s concert season continues with Haydn’s Mass in C Major on March 10, 2018; and Hymns, Songs & Spiritual Songs on May 19-20, 2018.
