Detectives Investigate Redlands Home Invasion Robbery and Carjacking

Redlands detectives are investigating a home invasion robbery and carjacking in the 1300 block of Campus Avenue in Redlands Saturday night,Aug. 1. City officials said a 20-year-old female victim was confronted at her home shortly before 9:30 p.m. that night by a knife-wielding man who demanded her car keys. After giving the robber her keys, the victim told investigators she struggled with the man before escaping the home and running to a neighbor’s residence for help. The robber escaped in the victim’s gray Volkswagen Jetta, license plate number 6KZM222, heading west on Campus Avenue, law enforcement officials said. Police units were on scene within one minute of the 911 call but were unable to locate the vehicle. Police said the suspect is a Hispanic male, approximately 30 to 40 years old, about six feet tall, 175 pounds and of average build, with thick, dark eyebrows and dark eyes. He was last seen wearing a red, long-sleeved shirt, black fingerless gloves and a blue bandana over his face.
