On 12-10-15 at approximately 4:21 p.m. San Bernardino police dispatch received a call from a resident in the North Verdemont area of San Bernardino that stated she was out with a 9-yr-old female that was reporting to have been kidnapped and released. The juvenile told officers that after being released from her last class at Verdemont Elementary School, at approximately 3:30pm, she went into a restroom on school grounds where she was contacted by a man that she described as a Hispanic male, 30-35 years, wearing a black ski mask over his head and black clothing. She said that the male walked her out to a black Toyota truck, had her get inside and drove her to a location away from the school. She stated that while in the vehicle, he touched her inappropriately before telling her get out of the truck. She reported that the suspect then drove away and she ran to a nearby apartment complex where she remained until police arrived. The juvenile had no visible injuries. San Bernardino District Police responded to the scene to assist with this investigation. The Principal of Verdemont and other school officials were advised and are also assisting with the investigation. School officials reported that they were present at the entrance and exit gates as well as the location where the buses drop off/pick up the children but did not observe anything suspicious. There is much follow-up work to be done on this investigation. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available. Anyone with additional information on this investigation is urged to call San Bernardino Police Detective Tony King at (909)384-4955 or Sgt. Brett Birnbaum at (909)384-5659.
