The City of Grand Terrace is continuing its efforts to improve mobility and safety in the City and has planned a second workshop on Wednesday, May 6, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the community room at City Hall located at 22795 Barton Road. “We are still looking for additional input from our residents as to the best ways to support better and safer mobility for our children and our community," said Community Development Director Sandra Molina. “Our surveys remains open and we hope that this second workshop will help us identify potential projects to pursue as part of a grant process.” Information gathered from workshops and surveys will be incorporated into the City’s application for the Active Transportation Program (ATP), a grant program created in 2013 to encourage bicycling and walking in communities -- especially amongst children en route to school. This is one of several programs available for funding both infrastructure and educational programs that can facilitate building sidewalks and bike lanes creating Safe Routes to Schools. The surveys, which are available in English and Spanish, can be found on the City’s website at www.grandterrace-ca.gov and will now be open though May 15. Click on the links below to participate in the either or both of the two surveys: Safe Routes to School Survey is a parent survey that will allow the City to understand better the current use of streets and routes to schools, prioritize which areas need improvement for better mobility and safety for the children already walking and biking to school, and to determine if bike or pedestrian safety educational/encouragement programs are needed programs for parents, children, and residents. Active GT Survey will allow the City to prioritize what and where improvements are needed, the actual use and benefit of having those improvements in place, and to help establish the current overall health of our residents in order to facilitate better health through Active Transportation – walking, biking, running, skateboard, etc. Your participation will assist the City in identifying all needed improvements.
