Royce Reynolds, a member of the award-winning doo-wop group, The Alley Cats, will play Caiaphas in the upcoming Performance Riverside production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Reynolds, a founding member of The Alley Cats, has performed as a member of the doo-wop group since 1987 when he helped form the group at Fullerton College.

The production will also feature Richard Bermudez as Judas; Nicholas Sloan as Jesus; Blaire Lynn Strong as Mary Magdalene; Matthew Malecki as Pontius Pilate; Daniel Berlin as Annas; Will Huse as Peter; Nicholas Alexander as Simon; and Chris Archambault as King Herod.

Performance Riverside, which is housed on the campus of Riverside City College, merges professional and student theatre students in order to produce three productions a year. In the spring, Performance Riverside will also be presenting Disney’s The Little Mermaid.

One of the greatest stories ever told comes to life in Jesus Christ Superstar, the groundbreaking, iconic rock opera that reinvented musical theatre for the modern age. Loosely based on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, this contemporary imagining of the biblical tale follows the last week of Jesus Christ’s life as seen through the eyes of his betrayer, Judas. Filled with an exciting mix of musical styles, high-energy dance and powerful storytelling, this is a must-see hit of the season, written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. The Performance Riverside will be having select show dates beginning February 9th until the 18th.
