In honor of the 20 years of unique and essential community benefit and mission of The Unforgettables Foundation (TUF) years, Senator Mike Morrell of California State Senate District 23 nominated the 501 (c)(3) charity for Charity of the Year by the State Senate and CalNonprofits. On Wednesday, June 5, at a Capital Senate Lawn Luncheon in Sacramento on Nonprofit Day – the Redlands based Unforgettables was awarded the recognition with Morrell and The Unforgettables Foundation Founder/CEO Tim Evans in attendance. Many State Senators and Assemblypersons attended as well.

Evans, who is past winner of both the Inland Empire and the Coachella Valley/Desert Communities Association of Fundraising Professions “Outstanding Professional of the Year,” shares, “The lasting partnership and friendship of Senator Mike Morrell, who is a former Board member and keynoter each of the past 8 years at our Inland Empire Unforgettables Hearts Awards, has been a tremendous asset to the credibility and community stature of our efforts to financially help cash strapped and grieving families with their child’s funeral costs.”

Evans, M.Div, CFRE, the founding Chaplain of Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital and recipient of numerous leadership awards like the San Bernardino County Black Culture Humanitarian of the Year, the Ramos Family Compassion Award, and the Citizen of the Year from the San Bernardino County Medical Society, invited Mr. Gary Gryte (of the Yosemite area TUF Start Up Chapter) to be a representative of The Unforgettables’ Chapters in the United States and Canada.

While at the State Capital for the day, Evans contacted and accepted congratulations from numerous area political leaders (or their staffers) in The Unforgettables service zone of Riverside and San Bernardino Counties in addition to Morrell like Senators Jeff Stone and Richard Roth, and Assemblyperson’s Jay Obernolte, Eloise Reyes, and James Ramos. Chaplain Evans also has strong ties to local service clubs being a past Kiwanis President, Rotary Paul Harris Fellow, and Current Redlands Optimist Member.

“We are humbled by this encouragement for our generation old cause, I sincerely thank our donors, board members, volunteers, staffers, past and present. Mike is a real blessing,” say’s Evans.
